Question Can the X300 XJR 4L80E transmission pan be dropped without rear trans mount removal?

I searched around and didn't find any information, but wanted to verify if the pan on the XJR 4L80E transmission can be dropped without having to remove or interact with the rear transmission mount?

I have plans to refresh the transmission filter, and may either do it myself of drop it by our regular shop, but may modify those plans if one has to deal with the "difficult to deal with" rear transmission mount

You can drop it out without having to remove anything. The only issue is that the exhaust makes it hard to get to a few bolts.

Thanks.

Is that true with the 4L80E on the XJR?

The exhaust partially covers the right flange of the pan, and the service manual indicates a middle segment of the exhaust must be removed to access those bolts.

It definitely would be nice to not need to remove anything to get to the pan bolts.

It might not be 100% necessary ....but disconnecting (not removing) the exhaust pipe just enough to get easy access to the bolts is no big deal if you have the butt-together pipes. Some had the slip-fit pipes.....which might be difficult to separate.

When I did my transmission filter and fluid when I first got my XJR, I didn't have to remove the exhaust or transmission mounts.
The exhaust did make access to about 6 or 7 bolts a lot harder. I was so annoyed about it, that when I got my mufflers switched from my XJ6, I had the exhaust shop cut, bend and shape a new piece of pipe so the bolts would be easily accessible.

Trying to get a box wrench over the exhaust pipe without removing the exhaust before the modification added about 20 minutes of work to the job....

I made an attempt at dropping the XJR trans pan this weekend to replace A + B solenoids and was stopped by one bolt blocked by the exhaust. Was going to drop the system at the manifold but incredibly couldn't find my 18mm deep impact for those, so buttoned up for another day and cursed the waste of time. I have slip joint pipes, so I don't see an easy way to remove the offending section with the heat shield by the trans. This is a BS complication...

How are others tackling this? Similarly?
