Default CAR Stalls when applying brakes:(

Hello.... 3 days ago I had the abs removed sent out for repair to BBM, and the car as fine up until yesterday. It began to stall nearly everytime when applying the brakes and coming to a complete stop. The rpms would drop and the car dies. The tranny light and check engine light both come on with no codes. It was just a P0726 and a 1727 which I know about that is a stalling code. Does anyone know if this would be related to the module not being there? Or maybe something else? Where should I look into?? thanks.

Knowing next to nothing about what you have been up to with this module i will give my best guess.

The X300 is vac operated brakes, so the booster does all the work in lieu of your right leg, BUT, if that booster diaphram is split you will have a MASSSIVE vac leak with your foot ON the brake pedal, and the engine management system, albeit good, is not that good, and engine stall will result.

Obviously there may be other things at play here, but that is a fairly common failure on any vac booster system, and engine stalling is a direct result.

hey francis thanks for the answer. What do you think of the abs being removed? I am still waiting for it to come back to me to reinstall from bbm. Would that cause a stall?

I very much doubt it, but with all the ECU's controlling these later cars anything is possible.

Some of them rely on a signal from one to do something which signals another to do something else, and then add that little Bugga, Murphy, and seat of the pants stuff comes very high on the possibilty list.

Echo that, sounds mighty like a vacuum leak in the booster to me. You can pull them apart for repair, but it's probably not worth the trouble. The diaphragms don't split that often, so a good second hand one will probably suffice. Since I don't know the reason for your sending the ABS unit out for repair was, so there is no way of guessing whether the problem you may have started with was related, but I'd hazard that they were. OB computers are smart at recognising pre-programmed faults, but not at second guessing.

Cheers,

Languid
