Default "Cheap"est laptop IDS setup possible?

I'd like the power to skip the dealership when it comes to things like TPS setup and resets in general and also having a deal-level tool would just be useful in general. Can someone explain the pieces and parts that may be involved to do this (aside from the laptop of course)? I'm chomping at the bit to be self-sufficient. Just in my nature.

Thanks!

All the VCMs I've seen seem to be "VCM II" and don't seem to work with the x300 year models from what I can tell.

The easiest/cheapest way for you would be an old WDS.

By the way, the phrase was originally 'Champing at the bit' but seems to have been *******ized.

Thanks for the verbiage lesson! I'm a stickler for proper terminology. I can't seem to find. N old wds anywhere and the one guy I talked to by chance said he could build me a renewed wds but for 3000 usd....3200 out the door.

Seems high.

I find them on eBay often.
I payed $400 + shipping for a complete Ford setup.
A bunch of us on the forum have the Jaguar software.

I also bought a used PTU for $200 and can be used with the same docking station if the other one 'crashes' Windows 98 (as it often does).

The internet is full of deals if you keep looking.

Thanks! I've been looking like crazy...that's for sure. I like being self-sufficient and that would be the tool to help make that happen.
