Code Reader - which one to buy ?

Hi Guyz, I have my Jag Stuck for a month now. it doesn't start and first thing that comes on my mind to do the diagnostics and see if it throws any codes. I live in Tbilisi, Georgia and i went through 5-6 garages and none of them can do diagnostics for my car (which is surprising). There is one or two who said that they can do diagnostics but i need to tow the car to them. I'm really tight on time and nerves so towing the car to the garage is the last on my list.

Well - long story short, i decided to buy the code reader online. Is there any of the code readers you use and works good on 1996 Jaguar XJR ?

I've just got a cheapo ELM327 BT OBDII reader - something like £10 off eBay... Sure it's not the best, but it reads engine codes ok!

Same here. I use an Android program called Torque

I have cheap 10$ elm 327 Bluetooth reader. Works great! I leave it plugged in and whenever I have an issue I simply bring my laptop and do a scan

Remember you need a wifi OBD2 reader, not BT, if you are going to use it with an iPhone or iPad. The wifi unit can also be used on Android devices.

For software, you can use TouchScan for pc, Android and iPhone/iPad. It's called OBD Fusion on the iphone platform, as the name touchscan was already taken :) Great piece of software, at a very affordable price.

I bought a Centec 98568 reader from Harbor Freight for about $20 ... in addition to reading codes, it clears them.
