Cold Start Issue when weather is hot o only !
Hi,
I have a strange problem , need help ! - Engine Cold , weather Cold ( under 16 degree celsius ) > Engine starts immediately - Engine Hot , weather COLD or HOT > Engine starts immediately PROBLEM : Engine COLD weather HOT > 2 cycle of 5 - 7 seconds needed to start the engine, rich condition present W/hat I did : I changed the - Engine Coolant Temp sensor - Intake Air Temperature sensor - Crank Position Sensor RESULT : NO CHANGE ! is there a specific " COLD START CIRCUIT " in our cars ? my car is 1996 Daimler Six lwb, maybe , an element of COLD START CIRCUIT different from listed above is the source of problem ? |
Check valve in the fuel pump body can bleed off the fuel charge in the fuel rail between runs requiring a bit of time to get the operational fuel pressure to the rail . This may account for the fuel smell as the underfueling at the lower pressure may not be lighting off and may be pushed down the exhaust . By the successful restart a short time after shutting down may also point to this check valve as it slowly bleeds off the trapped pressure . An easy way to check the check valve is to crack open the fuel line fitting on the fuel rail B nut after say an hour after shutting down .
Camshaft sensor ( code P0340 ) may be inop at higher temps causing a longer start sequence as it reverts over time to the Crankshaft sensor . Do you get the initial 4 second fuel pump on then off priming the fuel rail before the ECU sees engine rotation . 3 clicks total on the fuel pump relay On - Off - On . The first 2 clicks will accrue with the key in the on position only before the start position . Clean the connectors well on both the Crank and Cam sensors :icon_playing: |
