Couple questions about illumination
Hello,
I just bought my first Jaguar last week. It has 262k miles on it, but it has been wonderfully maintained and taken care of and runs and drives like a dream!! I was curious though if the digital odometer/message center is supposed to be lit? Cause at night with the lights on, mine is not lit at all. I assume its just 1 or 2 bulbs if it is supposed to be lit? The rest of the cluster is lit and looks good with no dark spots. And the second question, is the PRND32 pattern supposed to be lit? Mine shows red on the gear that I've selected, but the rest is dark. Thanks!

Yes, the odometer/message center is indeed supposed to be lit. The cluster must be removed to change the bulbs. I've listed instructions for replacement in the following thread:

The trans panel illumination is from one bulb, located at the forward part of the shifter, and under the trim pad surround. Carefully remove the black ring and then the leather surround by releasing the plastic tabs. The bulb is small and a little tricky to get a grip on.
The bulb is GE 32, Rock Auto has them. I dont know if auto parts stores would, but I doubt it.
Also, the light will appear as off white, not green as original, because the new bulbs are clear not coated. But it's still pleasant, and better than dark!

Thanks for the help, got them all replaced. Now onto the climate control and clocks lights, as they mysteriously burnt out now. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket twist lock base that works for those particular holes so that I can add aftermarket lights like from autolumination or superbrightLED's??
