crank but wont start

Hey All,
So yesterday I replaced my harmonic balancer on my 1995 x300. Everything was fairly easy and once I installed the new one i cranked it over and it started and ran great. Ran a few errands and all was well. When I got back home I had a friend bring over a torque wrench so I could tighten it to the correct specs. Unfortunately, he also had some gunk engine cleaner and I sprayed some on my engine. When I went to start the engine it cranks but wont start. I dont know what the issue is if i shorted out some connections under the hood or if the crank position sensor is off after torquing it it took a few minutes cranking over after i replaced the balancer before torquing but eventually fired up. . I spent about 6 hours replacing the balancer so this issue coming up is very frustrating. P.S. the balancer I put on is aftermarket one EBC1149 and greatly reduced vibrations in the engine, made for smoother shifting, and all around made the engine run better. It was 300 dollars but I cant complain. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi
Sorry about you trouble. Here is a link below that you should look at but is not the best news. I think that maybe after it dries out it may start.
Good luck

Thanks for the info. Turns out it wasn't anything from the cleaner. Upon further inspection my crankshaft position sensor had darn near turned to dust. I'll be picking my new one up at the store in the morning. Will keep updated.
P.S. I know I don't post much but I spend at least a couple hours a day on these forums and appreciate all the help I have gotten from everyone here. Thanks! If anyone has any questions about the new harmonic balancer or installing it let me know.

Check for spark with starter fluid replacing normal fuel in the starting sequence

MAF sensor precaution

Check for fuel pressure by carefully cracking fuel line at the fuel rail

Watch that your voltage sag during starter rotation does not drop below 11.4 volts on the instrument cluster . too low a voltage will not power the ECU properly and you will have no spark

The fuel pump enable uses the crankshaft position sensor to see engine rotation causing the ECU to provide a ground to close the fuel pump relay

This grounding command wire runs through the Papa Indy 61 connector

This 12 pin connector is located behind the washer fill cap and down low along side it's twin the Papa Indy 1 connector

They have a history of giving trouble

See page 51 upper left corner for a 1995

Thanks for the info Parker. I replaced the fuel pump a few months back so that is not the issue. I pulled the coils and it isn't getting spark. Like I mentioned the crank position sensor was falling apart so I ordered one to be delivered to the store in the morning. I appreciate the help everyone! Will definitely be posting more often.
