Is crankcase ventilation hose to throttle body necessary?

And although posted in that thread already, here is a PDF that clearly shows where the small breather hose attaches (circled in red) to the bypass valve body behind the throttle body. This is the best illustration of what I was trying to describe above, and may help others identify it later if this thread didn't do a great job doing so.
