That is 12% faster than the standard car. Quite impressive for such a simple modification.

Dear All,
I've just had another batch of brackets made, taking the total to over 600. Thanks to everyone on this forum for their continued support of this product.

I have searched the web. Does anyone know if there are still any of these brackets available for sale? Thanks!

Hey, Andy, I purchased and fitted one of your brackets along with a short snub air inlet in my 95 x300 when I first purchased it about three years ago. I am and have been very happy with the improved pickup and have been following this thread ever since.
I'm just curious after following for so long, how many countries have you shipped your bracket to now?. It must be a ringing endorsement of their effectiveness.

I installed my bracket and a new pick up this last week and am truly impressed. My '97 Vanden plas has always been a pleasure to drive, but it is so smooth now, and even more responsive. I've kept the transmission in sport all the time for a few years. I switched it over to normal this week. It has made that much difference. Thank you!

Dear All,
If anyone wants a bracket, then we still have a few left from the current batch.

Does anyone have any idea what effects this modification would have on insurance premiums, in the UK?

Stu, I would suspect nothing. It is a small bracket that is discreet, and advances the ignition timing a few degrees. The insurers wouldn't know it was there unless you told them.
I put one on my 3.2 Daimler 4 years ago. Definitely worth it

Stu,

I agree with AL, the bracket has no effect whatsoever on vehicle safety or reliability and should therefore have no impact on insurance premiums. I installed one on our '93 XJ40 and it provided a noticeable improvement in mid- to high-rev responsiveness and a truly significant improvement in fuel economy of around 2 mpg. It's a simple modification that works and pays for itself.

Cheers,

Don

Stu, further to my reply to you 24 hrs ago, I have just driven my 3.2 to work and back today, having driven my manual XJR for the past few days. I was on a quiet undulating straightish back road, comfortably wafting along at 90-95mph, with great pick up. With Andy's bracket, I can run 98 RON octane and get benefit from that fuel with extra power, and so far I'm averaging 23 mpg on this tank of gas (Imperial gallons).

The XJR is obviously quicker with at least 320bhp, but the Daimler 3.2 doesn't feel too much slower with, officially, 215 bhp. I suspect with Andy's bracket it is more like 225-230 bhp. The XJR has kick-in-the-pants , but a 3.2 with bracket goes very well, especially once up to speed and in the rev range

A quick techy question : Is there any reason that advancing the ignition on a car running E10 fuel (10% ethanol) would be a problem ? Over here in France "standard" RON95 is getting hard to find.

We have E10 in the U.S. also and I've been using Andy's timing advance bracket for years now on our '93 XJ40 with great results.

Cheers,

Don

I usually run on Ron 98 with Andys bracket. I tried a tank of E10 and was less impressed with it. Not saying that it didn't run fine just doesn't seem to have the same kick as the 98. I also noted that the engine didn't seem to fire up as fast in the mornings.
Just my 2 cents I'm hoping here in Aust we aren't heading in the exclusive ethanol direction too soon
