Which ECU emissions region codes correlate to a country/region?
I may be on the search for a replacement ECU, and will of course need to match the part number. I haven't pulled mine out yet, and when I do I'll undoubtedly have the exact part number.
But until then, I was looking at Jaguar Classic parts and found the ECU part numbers for my XJR6 VIN range to be broken out into three emissions groups, A, C and E.
In my car's case, the C&E group are the same part number, but the A is different.
So I was curious if anyone knew what countries/regions these emissions groups mapped to?

Hi Al, check the last prefix letter before the six-digit serial number on your car's "born-with" VIN next to the battery. For the XJR, T=emission A, P=emission C, and J=emission E. I don't know which regions are which, but we will find out which one is USA soon! Hopefully this helps somehow and the information from your ECU will match up.
My 6.0 is emission D. ??

The above chart has additional information compared to my original 1995 in the book. My version is an early one. However, I double-checked my VIN and discovered I was wrong about the emissions code. It is T, not C, therefore I have emission A! Notice that neither "T" nor "emission A" is listed above for prefix 11!
T =A is listed for the 4.0S/C as well in my book. If everyone checks their 11th letter, we would get a good picture of the emissions regions! Maybe.
Funny that California had to have a 4.0 engine code all their own...

It is on the edge of the spare tire well next to the battery. Large stamped digits, can't miss it. It follows the chart that Graham posted above. The 6 digit serial number will be the same on both VINs. As far as I know that trunk location is the only one on USA models. It is the original proper English VIN and heritage that the car was born with!
