Default Engine Belt Questions AC and Alternator 1995 XJ6 4.0L U.S.

What are the specs for these belts? Width and Length? Who makes the best quality replacements?

I've found differing information during web searches, so wanted to verify the specs.

Thanks in advance.

Alan

JLR,

Thanks VIN is SAJHX1742SC728323.

I have access to some Gates brands from a local autoparts store:

I don't mind spending more to upgrade to a better belt if available. Any input is appreciated.

Grant, If I read the break down correctly, then those belts are 965mm (5 rib) and 990mm (4 rib) respectively.

While the ones shown are 1032 mm (4 rib ~ 42mm or approx. .81 inch longer) and 996mm (5 rib ~ 1mm or .039 inch longer). which is what I am seeing available around here in variance.

I don't want to order a belt that ends up being to loose or right on the edge.

Thanks.

Your existing belts might well still have legible printing on them with size and specs.

I'm not aware of any specific brand being particularly good or bad. Gates, Dayco, and Goodyear are quite common and I've not found any of them to be poor quality.

Cheers

I just Googled the Jaguar part numbers and got lots of hits, reasonably priced

Alternator - EBC11306
Compressor - EBC11220

Probably easier to go that route than dealing with lengths, ribs, width, etc to find a replacement

Cheers

Maybe the USA cars are different. Thats the belts mine takes.

That EBC11220 crosses to a 4PK1015, and the EBC11306 to a 5PK0980.

As Doug suggested, look at the belts, often the numbers are still readable, takes the unknown out of it.

Assuming the P.O. (17 year old kid...) was worthwhile, which I don't care to. Too many other oddities. Also I work as an engineer and like specs.

Thanks for the input, and I'll likely buy one off the shelf, but JLR if you can do the specs I'd appreciate it.
