European Union homologation number

European Union homologation number
I would like to bring a Jaguar XJR 6 SC 4.0l.from California to Spain. The first thing I must know is the European Union Homologation Number for this model, built between the years 1995-1997, I believe.
If you know the number for this model I could start with the paperwork in Spain. The number should be something like "e11*98/14*0176*08". Most Jaguar have this number on the ID plate.
Thanks

According to this site most models sold in the US do not have a homologation number. This site is specific regarding importing a US car to Germany, but since rules are _supposed_ to be similar across EU countries, similar steps might work in Spain.
Going the other way, importing a car into the US, it is very useful to have a official statement from the manufacturer stating that the car is similar to US models sold, noting any deviations that would need to be addressed when importing the car. Maybe Jaguar (or Jaguar Heritage Trust) could help you obtain a similar statement that states that the US sold XJRs are similar to EU models, noting any changes.
Btw. my parents took their Series III XJ6 with them when they moved to Germany - the model was a (federal) US model. Some items had to be changed - pretty much limited to headlamps, and site marker/turn signals.
In fact, some items where different from European standards and followed US standards - one item was the seat belts. A conversion was not required and the registration papers simply state "comparable functionality has been verified". So much for Germans not being flexible...
