Fitting 18x8.5 milans to x300 help please.
Hi.
Bought a set of 18x8.5s milans thinking it was going to be a straight fit to my '95 XJ6 X300. But seems like the centre bearing caps are too big and I can't seat the rim onto the hub at all? I measured the centre bearing it's 75mm and on the rims it's only 72mm.
Has anyone tried this? What kind of modifications are required?
Thanks

Remove the dust cover for the hub. I had to get my wheels bored in the center from 73mm to fit 74mm but even after that I still wouldn't fit. So you can either hammer the dust cover or just remove it and I'm sure the wheels will fit if they're already at 75mm.
I also recommend getting hub centric spacers to make up for the extra .8mm gap or so between the wheel center bore and the hub bore

I'd be very cautious about putting bigger wheels on an X300. Those who have tried it over on Jag lovers have said that the tramlining becomes very pronounced with larger wheels, and 16" seems where the cars are happy.
Remember this is basically an XJ40 suspension designed for 15" wheels. The larger wheels and smaller tires do affect the handling and straight line tracking.

I have fitted the 19 inch Atlas rims (factory wheels for the X100 XK series, 8 inch wide with 245/40 tires on front and 9 inch wide with 255/40 tires on rear) to my Daimler X305, they were a direct fit, zero problem. The suspension behavior is supreme to my liking, I prefer it much more than with my previous 16 inch Turbine wheels. Needless to say that the car looks great too.
