Default Have to change rear door

Because some inconsiderate **** has opened there door onto the Jag, and leaving a big dent in it, having to change it for an undented good one, yes its from the same year and colour code vehicle, but how much of a job is it. Bolted on so thats easy, but what about the wiring, can it be done from outside, or do I have to remove the B pillar inner trim.

Curious, why do you need to change it? Can the dent not be pulled out or repaired?

Was cheaper to change it, door cost £20 and is completely clean, better than the one that's on it.

Ah! righto.

Changing the door itself is a doddle.

Disconnect the wiring harness at the connector.

Remove the locking screws from the hinge tops.

Then undo the bolts holding the checkstrap to the doorframe.

Open the door fully and lift it off the hinge.

Sorry, didn't read your post as thoroughly as I should have

Yes you will need to remove the bottom B pillar trim piece (two half turn plastic screws at the bottom and one screw at top. Then remove the two screws that hold the deflector/retainging plate and disconnect the three connectors.

That's interesting then, Just had a play. The replacement door came with the hinges, understood thats the best way to change it. Tried removing the hinges as you described. Top one fine no problem. bottom one hits the curve of the door as it reaches the end of its travel, so you have to tilt it to finish off, now both pins are the same length, so that will mean you cant tilt it due to the other pin still holding it. there is a small recess in the curve of the door but not enough to do the job. Guess I'll suck it and see. If not its a hinge off job.

Hmmm? Did you remove the checkstrap? I did that on mine and it allowed me to open my door all the way which gave enough clearance to pull the door up off the hinge pins. You need to put a bit of tape on the edge of the front door so you don't scratch the rear when it's fully open.

My car is a SWB. Not sure if yours is a LWB but would have thought the operation would be the same?

That's just the spare door with only the hinges fitted, not on the car. I'll give it a go on the car and see.
