Head unit tape/CD switch will not switch over to CD

The CD changer was working fine, until today. When I press the Tape/CD button to change over to CD nothing happens, the radio continues to play. There is no cassette tape in the unit. The CD changer in the trunk ejects the magazine ok, and it can be re inserted.

Cheers

Have you checked the connection cables in the boot to see if they are loose or something? Something similar happened to me a few occasions before (CD played intermittently) but on that occasion I bought a refurbished radio unit from the US instead of fixing mine (mine is a Hong Kong car - RHD). The radio seller determined that it was due to hardware difference causing miscommunication between the radio and CD player. I returned the bought unit and sent my original unit over for repair instead and everything has worked fine ever since.

From memory, this is a known issue, and is covered in a thread somewhere in the forum. The issue lies in the head unit, which displays "Non cont" when acting up? Can be intermittent. I cant remember the solution unfortunately!!

Thanks.
I do not get any error code showing on the head unit. It just will not switch over to CD. The display shows the radio station playing.

Here are some TSBs we got a few decades ago at the dealer.

Maybe the DATA CABLE is loose or has poor continuity??

Thank you for the TSB's. I will check the data cable for shorts etc.

Cheers
