Default Help! 1995 XJR passenger rear door glass install

Just spent 2 hours trying to find info on installing rear door glass. Picked up a nice '95 XKR with a broken pass.rear window. My Haynes manual for our XJ40's stops at 1994. Picked up A used piece and drove 45 miles to install ( no cell or internet). Removed door panel and tork screws. Could NOT figure how to install new piece. No matter how I tilted, rotated, would not slide in. Sides did not detach like our XJ 40. 45 miles back, looks like possible showers tonight. Perfect interior up until now, and of course I did not seal up tonight. What's the trick ??? Humbly awaiting reply.

The glass guide channels need to be disconnected/moved to get the glass to TILT and then maneuver. I think the rear guide rail (near the latch) can be disconnected at the base and moved to the rear to allow the glass to be tilted.

It has been YEARS since I have done this but.........

Sometimes the rear sixthlight with frame needs to be removed UP with the glass panel but I don't remember if this is necessary for this model. I think that was for the X200.

JTIS might help. The X308 is VERY similar (body wise).

Right you are. Went and looked at donor car where I purchased used glass and the only other part they removed was the rubber/felt inside the glass channel. I pulled that out and in 5 minutes had the glass in. Getting the seal back in however not so easy, still have slight twist in last 8 inches in bottom rear track to contend with, but works and seals.Could not locate any JTIS info, maybe i missed.

Anyway, thanks once again B.G., you were the only reply.
