How to remove turn signal stalk
My turn signal stalk was not returning to the center position after executing a left or right hand turn. I then removed the two screw on the stalk and tried to repair it from that position and thought I did as with the screws removed the stalk started cancelling. As soon as I replaced the screws the stalk stopped returning, so naturally(!) I removed the screws only to find out that the signal cancelled only some of the times.
Initially I tried to pull out the switch but it seemed to be blocked (and barely at that) by the steering wheel. My question is if it will come out with some motivation from me without removing the wheel? If not, where can I find instructions to remove the steering wheel?
I do hear very clearly that it is trying to cancel but just misses. If I help it along just a little it does cancel at the correct time. Any idea what the fix might be? Is there a problem with driving the car without the stalk (other than it is illegal since my turn signals will not work) in case I have to wait for a replacement stalk to arrive?
Thanks and happy new years,
Jomo
