Input air sensor reading +40 OBD2

Hi all I bought a new OBD2 and it reads better on x300 4.0na . I see now that my IAT is reading +40 c. Unplugged I get -40 c. I put a potentiometer in line to increase resistance and got -18 c turn pot and got -19/20. I am assuming that my IAT is fried. Any thoughts?

Yup. I would think that would need to be replaced. Easy and cheap.

How's the coolant temp sensor? You may want to got 2-0 on cheap and easy....

The inlet air temp and engine coolant temp sensors are thermistors that when unplugged are not powered as they should be

They can be calibrated against a chart on page 86 and 78 as your meter should be powering them if you use a 9 volt battery powered meter
