Inspected a low milage XJR!
So I am in the process of looking for a 1995-1997 xjr. I have 4 BMW's and they are all coupes. I've wanted an XJR for the longest time and I stumbled upon one at a dealership in Sacramento, CA. Dealer advertised it as mint condition with 51,000 miles for only $6995. So I drove to Sacramento which was a two hour drive and took some pictures.
Some damage to the front Bumper.
Many dents on the doors (almost looked like body damage the was not properly repaired)
Loved the color!
Wood looked pretty good.
Nice Milage!
Few scratches and some dents.
Some scrapes, dent under light, and other light was cracked.
Rear leather was in very good shape! Rear vents were broken.
Overall great car! I was about to offer 6k cash, but the sales rep said it had just sold the previous night to a car collector in Connecticut. I missed it by one day! I thought I'd share this car with the forum.

Nice looking car, shame you missed out. Looks like the bonnet (hood) might have had a respray though - slight shading on the pictures and the aligment over the left hand headlights looks slightly out. Could just be the bump stops need adjusting.
Keep looking and good luck!

Thanks for sharing! It's harder to find decent res pics of these Jags on the net than you'd think, and I wanted a close up of the XJR mesh grille. Now I have it.
Good luck with your search...
Just one thing: Don't XJRs usually have their grille surrounds and boot trim painted the same as the body, and also black tims around the windows (like the XJ Sports)?

The USA XJRs had bright trim around the windows but you're right about the grille surround and boot lid plinth...they should be body color.
Now that I've said that I'll second guess myself.....
I know some changes were made towards the end of the XJR run and perhaps the bright grille and boot trim were among them. I dunno. Just a thought.
Cheers

It always chaps my hide that sellers throw out the term "mint condition" to describe a car that's obviously been knocked around a bit!
Anyhow.....
It looks like a decent example and I agree on the color...I like it ! Seems like so many XJRs are black. It's nice to see some variety.
Keep looking. The right one will come along. I looked for about 6 months or more before I found mine.
Cheers

I inquired about the condition of the body and paint a few weeks ago.
I was told:
"hi there .it has some scratches on the side .and on the front bumper"
I replied asking if they would be open to an inspection. No reply received.

It amazes me that someone in the business of selling cars will not answer very simple questions and evidently there are a lot of cars in excellent condition. I have had the worst luck and I am a serious buyer. I have not been asking odd questions. The easiest that I did not receive an answer on was "where are located?"

I just hope the dealer really explained the true condition to the new owner that wired the money and bought it! When I was on their website, they posted some high resolution pictures that presented the car like it came off the lot! When seeing the car in person, it was not like the pictures! THE PICTURES I TOOK WERE ON MY PHONE AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE SOME OF THE IMPERFECTIONS! They clearly did some photoshop!

Interesting. You mentioned a 'collector' from Connecticut purchased that car. A few days ago a 'collector' of Jags from Connecticut visited the car I am thinking of buying ('97 VDP). He passed on it but did say it was a clean 'example'. Wonder if it's the same Cat. I sure wish he was a member here as I would love to pick his brain. Someone in Ct. is searching the nation for 97's. Sort of hurts my feelings that he didn't want the car I seem to love. HMMM
