Did anyone else go to the Stoneleigh Jaguar Parts Day today?

It took about three hours of wandering before we found any X300 parts at all. They were concentrated on about two stalls somewhere near the back.

I didn't manage to find what I went for (a bonnet side rubber trim and an exhaust back box) but I did get a centre fascia air vent, a spare AC control unit, a windscreen scraper razor, a nice big XJ6 poster, a pair of headlamp supports - expertly repaired with resin - and 3.5 metres of headlining + a few tins of HT adhesive.

Worth the trip in the end, if only to save postage on the headlining.

There were a couple of interesting cars in the for sale area, including a tidy S3 and an XJ40 Daimler advertised as 'LWB' that looked longer than usual (to my eyes anyway - plus it featured a 3" seam across the floor) but that wasn't actually a Majestic according to a) Rob and b) the VIN. Maybe the vendor just had the seats wound forwards.

 

I went as well, and I was disappointed in the offerings. It seemed like the world ended with series III, there wasn't much in the way of parts for cars later than that.

I was impressed with the D Type replica for sale that had an XJR engine.

 

I think it doesn't help that a whole X300 is so inexpensive. There just isn't much value in the component parts.

If I had the space, I would definitely be stock-piling right now.
