The main problem with the X300 style front hubs is that they have tapered roller bearing spindles and the X308/X100 have a press-in one piece bearing hub that is 'flatter'. The bearing cap on the end of the spindle sticks out too far and the hub diameter is different for the wheel center.
I don't have a cross reference chart to know what will fit what but I remember the X308 VDP wheels have that hub cap that will cover the extended spindle of the XJ40/X300 style front hubs. Some of the other X308/X100 wheels will not allow the wheel center cap to be installed with the spindle/bearing metal cap in place.
I have a brand new 17" Lamina wheel in a box and I have a 1992 XJ40 so someday I might try to fit the wheel to the car if I have it in the shop for some 'wheel-off' maintenance.
It was easier to try these thing when I worked at the dealer because we had so many different models/years in the shop at once. You could walk over to another guy and ask to borrow a customers wheel to try on a car on another lift.
I don't know if there is a comprehensive list of compatible wheels/cars!!
