Missing Relay?!
2 Attachment(s)
Hello all. I was just looking over my X300 for blown fuses and believe that I've discovered a missing relay. I've attached a pic for reference. I'd love to know if it actually IS missing or it is a dummy spot. Also, if it is missing does anyone know which relay it is?

Sometimes there are items like that "missing", even fuses at times.
This is due to the "factory fitment" specifications when the car was built NEW. The same fuse box/s are in all Jags of that model, then relays/fuse/diodes/whatever, are plugged in for the equipment installed. For example, heated seats, sunroof, not all models/markets got them, so that relay would be missing on some markets, like here. I dont know what that missing socket is for, but someone will sort it soon I reckon. |
Hey Tiny!
Why are all your relays brown? Aftermarket replacements? Originals are blue. But that probably doesn't matter at all. I've stared at, studied, fiddled, cursed at, and maybe cried a little at that fuse/relay box while sorting out my VDP starting problem (which did turn out to be a relay problem). That missing relay is nothing to worry about. Some are equipped with items that would use it but apparently not yours, or either of mine! It is deemed an "accessory" relay. Left to right: Heated rear window relay, accessory socket, trunk release relay, fuel pump relay, high mounted stop lamp relay. Lower relay is a ignition-on relay that allows power to the items connected to fuses 10, 12, 14, 16 in that fuse box. Same at all the vehicle fuse locations. And all this from memory! Good info to know, but a tough education for me: the ignition-on relay in the right side heelboard controls the fuel pump relay (via F10) and the lighting control module (via F14), among other things. On the occasion that my fuel pump would not power up, the brake lights would not come on! I was finally able to associate the symptoms with the cause, that intermittent relay. Since swapping it with the heated rear window relay, I have never had a failure to start! Stay cool. If you can.... |
Why isn't my signature posting?

BTW, the center relay for your trunk lid release is of the original size and color, and uses only half of that socket, so no worries.
Signature still not posting. Richard |
Hi Richard,
I had the same problem. If you have adblock running, switch it off and try again. I can see your signature. |

Signature still not posting. Richard I'm not sure about the color of the relays though because all of mine say Jaguar on them and have the leaping Jag picture as well. |
Awesome. I disabled it for Jaguar Forums only. But others can see it above, so I look pretty silly now! Oh well, thanks Jimbo. Love that coupe!
|
Many thanks for your kind comments, I love it too but don't tell the wife.
|
Oh boy... I didn't realize how many ads would pop up!! Sorry guys, I have to turn adblock back on. If you can see my signature from France Jimbo, that's good enough for me!
And you're welcome Tiny. I want to make sure no one in the future suffers like I did over that "simple" problem! |
FYI Richard, after a few days I switched my adblock back on again and I can now see my signature.
It may be a little glitch in the system so don't worry about it. It may fix itself after a couple of days. |

The Luggage Compartment relays are: Attachment 49734 (click on the image to enlarge it) Full details on fuses and relays are to be found in the Vehicle Care Manual. Unfortunately, this is regularly missing from a used vehicle! Fear Not! The forum comes to your rescue. The Vehicle Care Manual can be download as a PDF from our MediaFire account.
