Default Numptie's questions

I'm sorry to ask but what are these two things?

The first one the white circular thing looks like it ought to fit onto a light or relay?

Just in front of the air filter and below it.

And this black thing what the hell is that?

Many thanks

Mike

Well the second pic is the air flow meter airbox. Not sure on the first one but if no-one chimes in, I'll have a look in the engine bay later today.

It might be the plug for the cruise control vacuum pump. But I don't see the pump in your pic?

Second one is a resonator chamber in the intake. It reduces induction noise.

Thank you both. I am suspicious that I disturbed something near the first white connector that is now causing poor running after 10-15 minutes.

But equally I am getting some plugs on Saturday

On the white connector. Jag had trouble with the cooling fans failing when they were connected to a temperature switch that turned them on and off. The solution was to put a jumper in the system that turned the fans on when the ignition switch was turned on. If your fans come on with the ignition switch you have the jumper which is the best configuration. If they don't you don't have the jumper and need one. That white thing looks like that connector without the jumper.

My fans come on with the ignition so that's a good thing then.
