Radio experts please chime in

Good day everyone,

I've finally had some time to sit down and tackle some of the issues I've been having with my 1996 VDP, however I'm afraid that I need some guidance on one issue.

I'm attempting to remove my radio and get at the wire to a) re-boot it ,b) take it apart and see what's been causing me all the trouble. However I cannot get access to it and I've removed the center arm rest, disconnected the valet switch, but when I get to the ashtray I'm completely lost, I can't seem to get it out no matter what I try and I dont want to break it nor the 'ski slope' around it.

Can someone point me in the right direction, either with a step by step or a link to the correct forum? Any help would be very much appreciated, I'm not very mechanically literate :p

Much appreciated :)
