Default Remote for X300 & Saab 900 9-3 - The same?

I've seen a few advertisements for remotes suggesting that the same unit controls an X300 and/or a Saab 900 9-3- Does anyone know if this true?

I bought one for $10- off e-bay and it would not bind to my 96 VDP even though it is 433mh (same as my fob). I have yet to enquirer as to the why.

Thx

Thanks Alan, thought one might be a cheap alternative to a Jaguar one!

Alan, one thing just occurred to me.
Surely if you are in the USA your model operates on 315MHz and therefore a 433 remote would be useless?
Perhaps a USA remote for a Saab might work!

Default Key Fob

My key fob (jaguar) is 433 mh so there must be something more to it.
I just bought an other 433mh fob from Hong Kong I will try and bind it today and will advise. I may have to pay up and just buy the proper fob it seens that $50-$60 is a real good price (e-bay) some are asking $90, $120- and I saw one for $150

Thx

Hi Alan, I'm still somewhat confused. If your car is US spec' then no number of 433 MHz remotes will work with it.

Sorry, but that isn't quite right. In the US we've got 433 and 315 frequencies. A 433 frequency will work on a US car if it is the proper frequency for the car (some 96 models, and all 97 models).

Hi Steven, my apologies then. I didn't realise the models in the US were produced with different frequencies as I thought all were 315. My mistake.
I presume then that Alan knows positively that his model is 433. My original point still holds up (a bit!) in that if he is trying to set up his car with a 433 remote and the vehicle is 315 then it will never work. Unless of course US models operate on either/both frequency(s), if so I'm exposing my ignorance even more!

I am 100% positive that my Jag (96 VDP) is 433mh. There is a sticker on the the back of the fob (battery cover) that lists the fob data.
It looks like this:

JAGUAR
DBC11512 433.92MHz
FCC ID K85JTX433

Don't doubt for a moment Alan that your remote is 433, the question is, is your car?
I know only too well from the enormous help I received on this forum that you can try forever to match the fob to the car but if they are different frequencies, you can't do it!
You will find another thread about the SCLM (locking module). In there there is information re' the aerial type and the module itself from which you can definitively determine which frequency your car operates on. Only then can you concentrate on getting the correct fob and programming it to the car.

Easy fellas! Here is a bulletin to show you how to determine which frequency your car operates on.

Cheers,
