resonator removal

I just removed the rear 2 resonators and the sound is a great but subtle improvement. Although, now the temp gauge in now stuck in the hot position. Any thoughts?

Go pull the plug on the sensor to the gauge and see if it comes off full hot. If it does then it's the sensor grounding out and will require a new one. They are pretty inexpensive.

That sounds logical-where is the sensor?

I had to remove my rotted rear resonators and now the droning inside is not pleasant.

I'm thinking of pulling the front resonators and moving them to where the rears were over the winter.

Just wondering, both of you have US spec cars. So, don't you have 2 sets of cat's (downpipes and then under the seats)and then resonators at the rear. I had started another thread and am looking at removing all cats and just having pipes from the headers down and resonators on the rear.

Yup, 4 mufflers, 4 cats. A visual state inspection will require the exhaust to exit through a cat. when the discretionary cash and time find me, I'll removed the center mufflers, second cats, and add new aftemarket mufflers to the rear.

Wow I did not know there were 4 cats on the us xj6 hmmmm. might just take the other two off (down pipe). As right now I am running those, dual pipe out the sides in front of the rear wheels with 18'' glasspacks. I used to have it un-muffled under the seats but it was a bit annoying however very race-ish :D.

I Pennsylvania, you can't exit the exhaust in front of the rear wheel unless it came from the factory like that. I tried that on my old Ranger, and it wouldn't pass the safety inspection. :(

Hmm that doesn't seem right, I mean If you're running full exhaust why should it matter? Guess it kinda depends on who's inspecting it most in MD aren't very nice!!!

their fear is that exhaust fumes will go back into the car via the door windows
