Rim Repair

I have an extra spare rim (really, it is an extra spare besides the one in the car, not being redundant). It's one of the sport rims from the X300 series base XJ6 model. The lip edge of the face side is broken off in about a 3 inch section. The tire still seals good at the bead edge even with the damage, it's just not pretty. Is there a way to repair this? I don't need this one really. I have five in good shape. If there is a way to repair it properly I'd like to part with it.

Peace!
Jack

Jack, repairing damaged and bent alloy wheels is very common but I don't know if what you have is repairable.

A call to a local body shop, or a Google search, will probably reveal who in your neck of the woods does wheel repairs. There's a big outfit in Portland Oregon but that's little help to you. I reckon most major cities will have one.

Good luck

I'll look into it. I was lucky and got a good deal on the rim I bought to replace the damaged one, so I am in good shape. I might even use this as an excuse to learn some "aluminum welding".

I never did hear back from you on the mltd forum about the stereo or the car.

Peace!
Jack
