Thumbs up Road Trip 2400 mile Seattle WA - Yellow Springs OH

Left Seattle 3/20 8p PDT arrived Yellow Springs 1145p EDT 3/22...one overnight in Wall, SD. I couldn't resist the signs and I was exhausted. I drove my 1995 VDP averaging just over 72 mph and getting almost 21 mpg. Used 1/2 quart of oil, car with just over 106k. Drove like a dream, the 4100 pound beast is smooth and fast, cruise control set at 79 mph most of the way, especially the western and mountain states. I changed out the water pump before leaving Seattle, installed a new thermostat, changed the oil, added a pint of Seafoam to the gas tank another pint to the crankcase. I do have a small power steering fluid leak and added fluid Monday morning after arriving.

I have driven Seattle to Oklahoma twice, to Texas once. Not in a jag but in new, fast v8 models from other makers back in the day. Some gorgeous scenery - also some amazingly high elevations in early spring.

Did you encounter any snow storms?

Thank God for the TWC app. I checked weather before leaving Wall SD and found snow forecast for the MN...WI...northern IL path and ducked south at Albert Lea to avoid it. It was a bit of a scare to see the westbound cars covered in snow before going south into Iowa. The weather was weird though, 68 in South Dakota Saturday, but Sunday morning when I left it was 28. Never warmed Sunday until I arrived in Peoria IL where it was 50.
