Default Sharing info results for a great cam cover kit?

I bough this Cam Cover kit with the 6 spark plug seals for shipping to
Houston Texas for a total of $27... the kit was perfect for my original 4.0 and it was leeking in 5 out of 6 spark plug holes.... After some 3M black Silicon all of the spark plugs are dry and no oil leeks from the cover...I am pleased

I found these guys on ebay.... and it worked great for my 1997 XJ6 / 4.0

Terry's jaguar Parts
269-353-5273 or Jaguar Parts, Jaguar Accessories All Jaguars

They are in Kalamazoo, Mi and i called them direct to order... super happy with the results and no more oil leeks.... cheers

It came with the cam cover gasket and the 6 spark plug rubbers too. I didnt buy any cam cover rubbers for the bolts. I went to the Toyota dealership in town for a tube of there factory black silicon and it was a job done in 1 hr. luckly for me the cover was clean and the head was spotless!

But it was a quality kit and fit just fine and i called them to order it over the phone to make sure i got the right kit for my 4.0 straight 6

cheers

Question How is your Cam Cover Job Going

Hi,
I have noticed I have a small oil Leak at the cam cover seal and read your post. I'm curious how the job you did is doing? You mentioned going to the Toyota dealer and getting a black seal for the cam cover bolts, I am curious how thats works?

Any help you can give would be great?

The kit worked great for me. Did the cam cover a few weeks ago....no leeks in the spark plug area and no leeks from the cover..... The Black silicon is the toyota brand, a little messy to work with but is the best ive ever used.. I was real happy with the kit and silicon.... let me know if you have any questions or you can call me on my cell.... jake 936 777 4828 Conroe tx

EDIT: Nevermind found it NBC 2530AA Eurospare COIL COVER Gasket found on ebay then pasted part number to find on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

At one point in time I saw Coil cover gasket for sale at one of the websites, rockauto or similar. For the life of me I cannot find coil COVER gasket. It's a gasket for the cover not the coils themselves. Anyone seen one recently or know where I can order one?

Hi Chattanooga_XJR,

See part number 6 in the diagram at the link below, Coil Cover Seal part NBC2530AA. I'm not sure if an XJR requires a different part number, but the jaguarclassicparts.com site is a great place to get part numbers (and order parts, especially in the U.K.):

Camshaft Cover-3.2/4.0 Litre - Parts For XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Classic Parts UK

In the U.S., jaguarmerriamparts.com and gaudinjaguarparts.com list that seal at around U.S. $50.00, but forum sponsor SNG Barratt shows an aftermarket part for $19.95. Coventry West and Welsh Enterprises may also offer a similar aftermarket part.

Cheers,

Don

If you google "1997 XJ6 Coil cover gasket" you will find them for sale everywhere including e-bay from various vendors.

Thanks for the replies, as noted in my post I finally found the part number when searching for Coil cover gasket on ebay then amazon.com had the part for $31 which I promptly ordered. Thanks for the help, the two websites Don linked I had not seen before, adding to my bookmarks

The problem I found just googling 1997 XJ6 coil cover gasket was most of the results returned were for Valve cover gasket not coil cover.

Don't know what to tell you, just googled it on my phone, IPad and PC and there are tons of coil cover gaskets available right on the first page with pictures and all. Then if you hit "shop" you get just that...XJ6 coil cover gasket.

Oh I see what you did different. You were searching google/shopping not google/web. In either case, ordered mine last night, sorry if I confused you or anyone else. I will be more sparing with my queries going forward.

The jaguarclassicparts.com website is affiliated with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, jdht.com, so it's a great place to find part numbers using the original Jaguar parts diagrams.

Cheers,

Don

for your spark plug chamber oil leak, just buy silicon O ring or Viton, it will resolve your leak issue, they are rated for over 400 degrees.

Should one replace the cam cover bolt isolators at the same time as the coil/spark-plug well o-rings and main cam cover gasket?

I had read in another thread that there was an opinion that these isolators can compress with age and not allow the cam cover to be tightened with enough pressure to properly seal the main gasket and coil/spark-plug well rings.

Unfortunately you need 13 or so of these 'isolators' and they are $5-15 a piece, so they add up. If they aren't necessary I don't want to spend the extra $$.

Spark Plug/Coil Well Sealing Ring NBC2579AA
Valve Cover Gasket NBC2525AA
Bolt Isolator/Seal NBC2575CA

Any opinions on whether the Eurospare brand of these gaskets is as good/reliable as the OEM? OEM is about twice as expensive, but I don't want to do it twice or have a higher chance of a leak.

I've had my cover off three times and always replace the gasket and well gaskets. Those little isolators are the original on mine. Never presented me with any problems.

Thanks, also interested in verifying the torque values for the valve cover bolts and tightening order.

Any difference in "Eurospare" and OEM gaskets?

Just a quick bump for both questions:

1) Eurospare or OEM gaskets, any quality difference?
2) Torque specs for cam cover bolts, and tightening sequence?

Question

I have the JHT X300 DVD with the service manuals on the way (they were sold out for a while) so expect it has the torque and tightening order.

But in the interim, anyone have answers to the two question above so I can get the parts ordered and plan according?

Bueller..... Bueller .... ?
