steering wheel repair

HI all,

My X300 steering wheel is in need of some loving, but I'm not certain what colour I need. I know the seats are nimbus grey and the paint is graphite. Also, what is the best varnish for the cracked wood?

Many thanks

The factory finish was a polyester finish not varnish. Varnish or similar remover will not work, I believe you can remove it using a heat gun and scrapper (taking appropriate precautions to avoid damaging anything else).I am going to attempt to re finish mine once the weather warms up.

Instead of fixing yours, you might want to consider many good used ones (all leather; wood+leather....) available in different colours on eBay.

Thanks for that

Thanks for that; that's what I thought I'd done, but when it arrived it had fairly extensive cracking.

Hard luck; should consider returning it if it is of lesser quality. Mine, on my XJR of 1995, is still in pretty good shape, and so should many used one on offer. Have anyone tried replacing their steering wheels with one from X308? They very much look the same, and would be a few years newer.
