Strange sound from rear of car

Last year I asked for some held with finding a strange sound coming from the rear of the car, and got some replies so thanks for that guys but to this day I can find nothing wrong under the car, that's not to say there's naught wrong under there. Last week I talked a mate into riding in the trunk whilst I rolled over some pot holes in the road. He indicated that the sound seems to be coming from the wheelwell areas on both sides depending which wheel hits the pot hole. So is there a way I can test the rear end of the car to see what it is. I have tested the shockes and when I push down on the car it bounces 1.5 times and stops. If I drive hard in to a corner the car does not flop it hold tight no roll at all. It sounds like something was bouncing about like a spare wheel but we remover everything from the trunk and the sound is still there. Any thought on what it is would be great and any way to test your thoughts would also be great in this matter...

HAHAHAHA, I was going to say "YOU LEFT YOUR MATE IN THE BOOT", had second thoughts, then typed it anyhow.

Having just done the rear shockers on mine, they were cactus, I would be saying that the "foamy" type bushes up top have failed, they do that, and the top of the shocker is rattling around over bumps. Best thing it will get worse and rattle ALL the time.

The lower "spherical bearing" is also known to rattle, and is a mongrel to "test" without removing the shocker.

I reckon you have little choice but to remove the rear shockers and either do the bushes only, or do the whole shooting match and forget it for another 10+ years. I would do the whole thing, as those shockers/springs removal and replace is not the nicest of jobs.

My worse fear come true I knew that it had to be the shock bushing but was hoping I was wrong.

Oh dear I did forget to let Dave out of the trunk, hope he's okay....

Thanks
