Hi, disconnected my sunroof monor removed it to check it out because it was making weird noises when opening and closing. When all as finished putting it back together, I went to close the sunroof and it would close, tilt up and reopen again, I cant get it to stay shut. I know its something with the sunroof modile where you turn the little thing to set it. I was wondering what should I do to fix this anyone know???

 

There is a setup procedure. If someone does not post it (I don't have it) you can get in on Alldatadiy.com. The XJ8 pre 2003 is the same procedure.

 

Detoured off the clogged freeway through FTW this morning, and was a bit stuffy so actuated the sunroof. Simultaneously, mentally registered that I'd entered "town" and associated stop-n-go and thought to give myself 1-2 sec advantage against would-be carjackers/surprise uninvited passengers, I hit the "Lock" button. Sunroof froze immediately about 1/4 of the way open. Hit "close" and it cinched up properly. Left that alone (Don't touch that no moe') and beeped the a/c down a bit. Leaving work this evening, opened sunroof to ease the heat-soak effect and when I closed it, it closed, then reversed to full-open. Not sure if it tilted up in the process as I was preoccupied by the idio...er my fellow motorists. If it's on the X300 disc I should have it..but it is late and I'm fading...not sure I'll find it tonight...will edit if I do.

Did you eliminate the noise? Mine makes a sort-of whining sickly noise while opening, not unlike any 70's era Chrysler starter motor. I should probably leave it closed and quit messing with it.
