Surprised about my Mileage reading
SO this weekend I pulled the instrument cluster from my parts car and put it on mine due to the LCD missing a few numbers. I would have thought that if I did so that my current mileage would show up on my new cluster but nope. It had the mileage from my parts car. Well actually had another cluster and same thing happen. I thought I ready where the odometer was based on the computer?

I would assume that is on the LED board. The whole reason I swapped out the cluster was that The LEDs were missing some legs. I was just going to pull that whole module out but I could not find anything to fit the screws in there. I tried all more torx drivers but could not find anything to fit. I know the other screws on the cluster are like a T7 but the ones on the LED module are smaller and I tried 1-6 and none of them fit.

There is a cell phone repair tool that probably has the bits . They were smaller torque bits ( or Hex ) that you normally find . Mine never came back when I lent mine out . I'll get you the item # and manufacturer tomorrow as I go by the retailer . Like this but with interchangeable tips .

Great thanks. Well on a good note I can change out the cluster is less than 20 minutes. I changed out the bulbs to LED and had to put it on a few times before I figured I better check the lights before I put everything back together. Kind of like taking the reach motor off. I think I have that done to less than 30. Took a lot of them off cars in YouPullIt to get the cable and grab the motor. What is interesting all the cars I pulled them off I found good cables.

Making the odometer display work
This is the unit removed; 3 little screws one of which is under the pins
Carefully remove the two screws holding a metal keeper and lift the board off.
Now clean the contacts with de-ox or a pencil eraser and reassemble. I avoided messing with the magic rubber and glass stuff. Mine is perfect now.
