Default Throttle body leaking oil into the throttle position sensor

I took my throttle body off for cleaning and it looks like its dripping some oil into the throttle position sensor. I am suspecting that soaking this sensor in motor oil is not a good idea. My car has 109K on the odometer and I think it's normal to see some oil in the throttle/intake area given the age and mileage. Do they all leak like that, or is it something that needs to be addressed? I have a new TPS sensor, but I would hate to install it and kill it in short order.

Does anybody here have experience addressing this problem by disassembling the throttle body and replacing the seal? Is there a seal or a seal kit that I can buy?

They do that, its called gravity.

The oil in that trunking and the throttle body is the "mist" from the engine breather, mostly.

Since ALL service mobs change the oil filter from the bottom, that trunking never gets wiped out, and simply builds up over the years.

I change my filter from the top, no hoist in this garage, and that trunk/bellows is removed at least twice a year.

When I first got the X300, that area was a MESS. Since cleaning it, and the regular wiping out, AND using a good Synthetic oil, that mist build up is now almost zero at each oil change.

As for cleaning the TPS, I did. I removed it, and sprayed it liberally with "contact cleaner" in a p/pack can. Worked for me, some have reported a dead unit, dunno.

There is no seal as such that I know of that you can replace.

Regular cleaning of that trunking and wiping out of the throttle body is all we mere mortals can do.

Hi rendo,

I think Grant is referring to the corrugated/flexible hose, Part 7 in the diagram below. The crankcase breather hose attaches to the top of the plastic elbow, which is unnumbered in the diagram. Oil also accumulates in that elbow, so it is worth cleaning it out periodically also:

Cheers,

Don

YEP.

I undo #11, 8, 2 and remove the whole shooting match, that way the oil filter comes out a treat.

I also dont have #4, it cracked, so I cut it off and blanked the hole a very long time ago.
