Trac Control

I have just had my ABS/trac Control check on a meter and they tell me that I have BO codes, howrver the Trac light under the speedo is on all the time indicating Trac OFF when I try the switch on the left side it does nothing. Anyone have any idea why it will not turn on from the switch. I found three fuses in the ABS/Trac system and they are okay...

Thanks

I'm not sure what "BO" codes are. Did they elaborate at all on this?

Tha manual switch is not intended to turn the system "on". It is intended only to turn the system "off".

FWIW, there are a number of guys (including yours truly) who haved "fixed" mysterious ABS and Trac Cont faults by removing-cleaning-reseating the main connectors. No promises...but worth a try perhaps?

Bad spelling on my part the mechanic told me there was NO code showing not BO codes on his ABS/Trac OB11 meter.

Why would you want to turn it off and not be able to reset it so it's on and working Doug?

Not sure what you mean by this are you talking about the wheel sensors? removing-cleaning-reseating the main connectors.

Ahhhh, Ok

Well, no codes is gonna make diag a little difficult :-)

The default mode is "switched on". That is, whenever you start the car the Trac Control is "on". If the desire or need arises it can be turned "off" by hitting the switch. The "off" mode lasts until the next time the the engine is started.

Sorry. The main connectors at the ABS and Trac Control units themselves, in the engine bay. Cleaning the wheel speed sensors can't hurt...they're covered with crud after years of use.

I have been looking through the electrical diagram but as of tonight been unable to find the right one. Don't suppose you know the ref number for the right elec diagram..

Look for diagram 06.1 "ABS and Traction Control. LHD"

Follow-up

Hi Doug yes had been reading that diagram but can't see where the traction on/off switch is in it. I was thinking of checking the switch itself to see if I have power to it when off and then running. To get to it is it just the 4 screws under the switch shelf? Plus the two ABS/TRAC lights in the dash are also OUT how do you get to those..??

Look for "fascia switch pack"

If by "power" you mean "+" voltage, it won't. The switch closes a ground circuit.

As I recall, yes. Been awhile, tho.

I've never replaced the bulbs so I can't help, sorry.
