Default traction control fail light

Just came back from a 4000k trip and my traction control fail lamp activated twice just wondering if anyone has an idea on this

Also my throttle seems to be sticking/ self driving if I give it a sharp stab it comes back to normal idle also if I knock the shifter into neutral it free revs to 12 to 1400 rpm would the traction control have something to do with this any ideas apart from these to niggles the car ran perfectly motivated me to do another trip in the old girl

I havent had a chance to see if its thrown any codes yet ill check tomorow if it stops raing

I've had this happen. My TC engages for no reason, and it seems that the car can't get out of its own way. I turn off the TC, and go on my way. I'll have it looked at later.

thanks mgb4tim
I am not worried about the traction control not operating on these cars anyway its rubbish would rather remove it completely or rewire it so its permanently switched of and can be switched on when I let my wife drive the car LOL

I've had this happen. One time I fixed it by cleaning the throttle body. The other time I fixed it by adjusting the throttle cables.

Since both cables are attached to the traction control unit there might be a relationship between the two problems.

Also, stronger throttle return springs are recommended....both the linear pull-back spring and the coiled spring that's attached to the throtle body itself.

Cheers

My TC and ABS lights came on last week, and stayed on.

I went to get gas (was very low on fuel), opened the fuel door and it was full of water and little seed pods from my birch trees.

I soaked up all the water with paper towels, filled up the tank (ouch!), and don't you know it - the lights haven't been back on since! Go figure!!

Default Traction Control wires

I want to mention that on the Traction Control Actuator(MNA5930AA), at least on the X300, the two wire's insulation on the unit just crumbles eventually and the wires short out. I have seen this happen to several. On my own the ABS and Traction Warning lights went on. Eventually I found that the wires on bottom of the unit had shorted, but the upper end looked good. Some I have seen are bad at the top and bottom. It may be due to UV since the insulation under the black wire tube seems to be ok. I have not disassembled the unit to rewire it. I hope that the shorting did not permanently hurt something. I have not seen this problem mentioned and wanted to bring it to someones attention. Anyone with an X300 and traction control should be aware of this problem.

Mine did that; I don't have traction control fitted. This will set you aright:
