Trunk Boot Lid "What is this connector"

Hi folks. I started tearing into our "96" XJ6 trunk/boot problems today (would not open with the key). I found The key mechanism was frozen, so I removed it and will work on giving it a gentle cleaning. I also found that the connecting rod that runs from the key mechanism to the latch is missing. I'm guessing a previous owner had been in there before. Is there an official name for this connecting rod? I'll need to order one if it's available. Maybe eBay. Also, I found a connector hanging with the mating connector still on it that looks like it's been ripped out of something and duct tape on it (pictured with duct tape still attached). It's from the trunk/boot lid and had two wires running to it. Any idea what this was for or originally connected to. It has the number LNA 5070AB.

Thanks!

Bobby

Either the connector to the lights inside on the deck lid or the license plate lights. Dont take out the lock. Just spray well through the key hole and operate the lock with the key. Matter of fact do that with all the locks. I used to do that on service back years ago along with alot of other things i felt were maintenance items until the dealer slashed the service times paid to make them cheaper and more profitable to them at the same time.

It's not actually a connector. It's half of a number plate light. Half of it is missing. Search inside the boot lid and you should find the connector that plugs in to this.

Indeed, one of the tag lights is lot working. I hadn't noticed that. I've installed a wire coat hanger temperately till I can find the correct replacement for the release link (GNA3485AD).

Thank you so much for your assistance!
