I hope it's not sarcastic because my XK8 is that color.

It is a indeed a very sharp and appealing colour, in fact the signature colour of the 1995 XJR. Just came across a 1995 example in the same colour, even the engine bay has been painted with the same.

It's the only colour for an XJR.

It was the colour Jaguar chose for the launch publicity of the XJR, so they must have thought that it looked particularly good....

I agree, just like for the 1963 Buick Riviera, a silver exterior was the car that was in most of the ads.... the first year XJR was featured in most ads in turquoise.

However I think the turquoise XJR color was only offered for the first year (95 North America, 94-95 ROW) and in second year (96 North America, 95-96 ROW) the color was similar but was changed to something like Aquamarine Mica (JGY) which was slightly different and greener than the Turquoise (UDB) color.

Would be interesting to know the build date on this car and the exterior paint code to verify when and if Jaguar switched the colors on the XJR

1997 (US) didn't have any of the turqoise "like" colors though. These were the five colors offered.
  • Spindrift White
  • British Racing Green
  • Anthracite
  • Titanium
  • Carnival Red

It's interesting that no blue at all was offered, unless one considers Titanium a sort-of blueish gray...

A sapphire blue would have looked great.

The brochure also notes that "Special order color combinations are available at an additional charge". So it of course possible that just about any combination ultimately was possible.

No sarcasm whatsoever.
