Ride suffered with the stiff run flats and low sidewalls . HUGE grip generated with the Pilot Sports I had on them . Tires were like new take offs from my previous BMW. Those wheels and tires may be for sale soon.
I had picked up a set of wheels from a V12 and had them move my new michelins over from the OEM vdp wheels .
Of course the ride went back to the way it should be and I like the look better than the vdp stockers .
Also swapped in a new RR abs sensor since the old one was dropping speeding signal in occaison.

Finally fitted the new taillight i ordered from ebay after some idiot bumped into my car in a parkinghouse. He ran off , of course so I had to pay for paint job and the taillight myself. an easy 5 minute job to swap though.
My XJR has had an occasional ‘miss’ over the past 2 weeks.
last night I cleaned the MAF sensor with the correct aerosol cleaner, which seemed to do the trick, drove 20km, then this morning changed the plugs and air filter for good measure.
I have gone back to paper filters after dallying with K&N pods for a few years. I honestly think the K&Ns don’t give a performance improvement, and let a lot of fine dirt through. Just personal opinion and anecdote.
despite using the correct paper filter, the MAF does seem to give a bit of trouble every 6-12 months, ie: every 10-20,000km for me.
I bought new Champion RC9YCs, the last set having done 20,000km. The old plugs looked fine - clean points but otherwise sooty as per photo below. This may reflect the recent ‘missing’ , then a good 20 km run, after MAF cleaned last night, may have cleaned off the points - any thoughts ?
The old plugs had been gapped at 35 thousandths, and I re-measured them - all still 35 thou.
I had to gap the new plugs at 0.035” as they were all narrower from the factory.

Andy previously advised me, from memory, to go for the 6YCs for the supercbarged engine, given I have his reprogrammed EPROMs and the Powerhouse S/C drive pulley..

Booked my car in for 2 new rear Potenza 245/45x18s tomorrow.
Then on the way home, turned off Traction in the rain and had two wonderful episodes of sustained loss of traction on wet urban corners...to be recommended now and again.

Finally decided to change the belts and flywheel as I've had the parts lying in the garage for a year. Quite easy job once you understand how to losen and tighten the belts. Finally there is no annoying squeak noise at idle.
About two a week ago I took off my K&N filter and went back to the original filter setup due to something I read about the temp not really making a whole lot of difference to fuel consumption and performance. Since my car is a weekend car I did not get it out on the road a lot till the last couple of days. Well, what I found was there is a big performance difference between the two at least here in Albuquerque NM, The elevation here is around 6100ft. When I took it out on the road with the original setup it seemed starved for air. Just did not have as much pickup as it did with the K&N. I am thinking this has something to do with the elevation or maybe it is just the way it is. Needless to say I am back to the K&N

I really like this look and looked for the same rims and can't find them. The XK8 rims have a web look and these don't unless you got them off a different year. So did you buy these used?

Correct those are Pentas from a V8 XJR with lower profile MUCH stiffer sidewall (run flats) tires than OEM. Ride was worse. Lateral grip was amazing!!! Really needed a stiffer spring (and even rougher ride) or a softer sidewall tire. Tires are also staggered size. Happened to have them left over from my BMW I recently sold.
I'd sell these with tires but shipping would be killer.
Today I changed the short rubber intake hose that connects the XJR MAF to the alloy intake - it took two weeks to wing its way from the U.K., but its a genuine Jag XJR part that is actually still available!

I replaced the same boot this Saturday; the bracket beneath the air box wasn't bolted down and the mount just before the MAF was completely severed also. After fixing both the boot was very tight between the MAF and intake, was it that tight for you also? Mine sourced from Jag's Brisbane, California facility, not sure why you had to wait that long.
changed the differential fluid via the trunk and a harbor freight 6 dollar transfer pump,after drilling a access hole and using a 1/2 wobble extension,the hard part was to re-install the fill-plug,tight squeeze...the mono-strut was blocking access.
the oval is factory,the smaller hole is the one that I used for the wobble extension access,actually,it should be a 2" hole,and the top hole not necessary,the oval hole is covered with a very hard fabric,like the one to the right of the black lid support,right above my towel

yes it is tight, which is why I knocked the coolant level sensor out. Bugger...
