Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir Replacement
 

Typical...taking 1996 VDP to install new windshield washer fluid pump & after technician installed new pump he filled reservoir & noticed all washer fluid on concrete floor ... on way to shop the pot holes were so bad the right front must have made contact with roadway & whole front of reservoir was "holed" ... can anyone suggest where I might find a replacement reservoir ... it is the gooseneck style & there it is simple windshield wash ... no headlamp wash involved. I'm currently in Michigan (hence the potholes) ... dealers say "no dice" but the Jag dealers in SE MI are woeful ... again, any suggestions would be appreciated ... (btw ... not a small hole or crack ... this is a jagged 3' x 2' break in the plastic ... why there is no skid plate is obvious question ... the ground clearance on this model is very minimal anyway ... putting a plastic reservoir that close to contact with roadway was shortsighted engineering with no protective plate below

One from a X308 might work as its the same car body but I think the neck is different but the necks can be cut off and glued as a swap possibly with JB Weld

If you get creative a protein drink powder mix in the 5 pound large jag fits perfect in the cavity

Yes the reservoir is low in the front, but there is supposed to be a lower skid plate or undertray to protect it, as well as the other items down low there. Many if not most of these cars have had damage or complete loss of the undertray. It's almost inevitable. In the USA, parking curbs are responsible for much of this. They are the same height as the bottom lip of the undertray. Scrapes when pulling over it, tears when backing off of it. But replacements are readily available. When I replaced mine I shaved down that lip to help prevent damage from curbs. I am usually careful, but still find myself pulling in too far once in a while.

It was a bit of an oversight in design for the undertray lip to be exactly at the height of the USA curbs. Not to mention... the front lower control arm bushing might make contact if you pull all the way up to the curb. Boom! Not good... For this, the undertray gives fair warning by sacrificing itself.
