Wrenching off/on 1995 XJR Supercharger
 

I have to have the head on my 1995 XJR rebuilt and have found a lot of information on removing the head from XJ6 motors but not starting from removing the Eaton supercharger? Searched the X300 thread for info and did not find any about wrenching the supercharger.

Can anyone provide information or advice on properly removing a 95/97 XJR Eaton supercharger and properly reinstalling it? What to watch for, tips for doing the job right, what gaskets, hoses, bolts, etc. to use when reinstalling?

You'll have to piece together information from several sources.

I would recommend obtaining a copy of the factory service manual, which is available from various sources online.

In addition, you can use various parts views on Jaguar Classic Parts to see how things go together, and what parts are required and related. But again you may have to look at several different parts views and stitch them together yourself.

When I took everything off except the head a couple years ago, this is what I had to do, and make myself a step-by-step and parts guide before I began.

It's not a hard task to remove all the extra XJR parts (versus XJ6) but it is involved and time consuming.

Curious, why do you need your head rebuilt? That's not a problem we normally hear of with these cars, even with very high mileage.

Al, thanks for the reply and information. Will help a lot. I bought this car from an estate and do not have good history. It was sitting for 5 years or so and the whole fuel system had to be replaced to get it running, then cylinders 5 and 6 would not fire. Compression, leak down and high pressure air tests revealed a bad exhaust valve in cylinder 6. So head needs work. Hope that is all that is wrong with it?
