X300 Engine Compression Test
Is there a official compression test and procedure with reference numbers for the inline 6
A intact X300 just came into a salvage yard and would like to check while the car is still together Editing |
Nothing special about the procedure. Just disable fueling and spark.
This is from factory manual https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c13f32cba1.jpg |
Thanks,
Went to the salvage yard today and the car was abandoned , left to be towed off , and auctioned to the present salvage yard No key and attempted to jumper the switch to start it up and see the mileage on it No joy but got her to chime the security system with external power and no power to the dash Looking to see the mileage and if the engine is in salvageable mileage range Will attempt to remove the ignition switch from the key barrel and just rotate the switch fully connected and wired up Popped the trunk and charging battery up for a Wednesday try I am use to doing stationary compression test on aircraft piston engines where there is a specific set of numbers as a standard , tested once a year by law and entered into the legal aircraft maintenance logbook . In this case the numbers are for comparison First priority is to see the mileage , start the engine expecting some tinkering , run for awhile reconditioning the piston rings , then a compression test 160 - 167 Psi with a 7 psi spread between cylinders at 300 RPM min |
