Are the X300 XJ6 and X308 XJ8 outside door mirror interchangeable?

My passenger mirror shell, painted "titanium" on my XJR, has started to have its paint peel off from something hitting it at some point.

I can repaint it of course, but was just thinking of picking up a used VDP chrome mirror for both sides and be done with it.

Since Jaguar made a lot more X308s than X300s, eBay and wreckers have a lot more mirrors for the X308.

At a cursory glance the mirrors for the X300 and X308 look similar, but the devil is in the details

So I was wondering if the X300 and X308 mirror are physically and electrically (function and connectors) interchangeable, or not.

While I can't comment for sure on their interchangeability, I can say with 99% confidence you should be able to swap them out.

I've compared them directly to the ones on my XK8 and they are identical. So I would assume they're the same on the X308 as well.

 

Anyone else know for certain, especially regarding mounting, function and electrical connections?

Yes theyre the same. Mounting and function. However connectors may be differant and then just label wires and unpin and swap connectors. And if you dont have heated mirrors you can swap to those by adding in circuit to say rear defrost to power on heated mirros with rear defog switch operation
