xjr x300 not run for 8 mths now wont start
Hi you lot
Help me please
Ok I got a xjr x300
With lpg conversion,
The engine has all ways been perfect , I not used the car much for about a year its been in a garage , when I drove it in to garage it was running perfect this car has never not started even after leaving it for a year once .
It started first time .
I not started the car for about 8 mths , charged battery it does not start ,
Sounds like it not got any fuel but it has its got 57 miles left the computer says
And the fuel light is not on .
Some one please help me . were do I start because of the lpg it’s a mass of pipes and wires under the bonnet ,,
Just to recap
Car drove in to garage , been sitting 8 mths now wont start
I know its all most out of lpg but got plenty of petrol ish (57 computer says) I know if it started this would plunge fast but the fuel light is not ,
It does not sound like any fuel is getting in or its got no spark .
Some one help me get this lovely old motor running again any help would be gr8
My mate who was a AA man is going to look at it tomorrow but could I pick your brains befor he comes so we know what could be the cause
thanks lads

If the LPG system is MPI you probably have a cut to shreds ecu, if this is the case any failure on the lpg system that primes the petrol and uses it on cold starts could be the fault if you have already checked the usual,
Fuel pump relays
Listen for the fuel pump priming on ignition at the back of the boot
check fuel lines for pressure at the terminal
check sparks
timing lastly (if theres a strong smell of unburnt petrol at the exhausts and sparks are defiantly working)
an OBD2 reader would be nice as well as the TPS/CPS/ICV should throw up codes if they are the culprit.

When ignition is on I can hear a pump buzzing in front of car but I don’t think I hear anything from the boot I will get back to you on this ,,
Thanks for help
Its lpg but on cold starts it only uses petrol when engine is hot enough it switches to lpg. But when I trying to start I have lpg switch off so its like it has not lpg as far as the car thinks .
Should I be hearing a buzzing from the boot area? I will check this toms.
Don’t forget it was a perfect runner when I put it in garage,
nice one get back to you soon

Yes the fuel pump is in the rear have someone sit in the boot and listen near the back panel while turning the ignition the buzzing you hear from the engine bay is unrelated (fans or air injection pump)
My bet is something has gone wrong with the lpg management system if you cannot even hear a prime and your fuel pump relays are fine.
Although the fuel pump could have given up the ghost. running another fuel line to a jug could be another idea if theres no pressure and see if the car fires from that.

get a can of ether and spray some into the air intake then try to start the engine if it fires then stops the Ignition, injectors etc are working. That would indicate fuel delivery problem (pump not running etc). If it didn't fire then I'd be looking at the ignition system.
Hope this helps..You need to start someplace and the ether is the way I would go just to prove what system to check first, don't use to much of it though you can do harm to the engine.
Also if the fuel in the tank has been sitting that long it might be NO good did you use Fuel Stabilizer in the tank before you laid the car-up?
