Default XJR6 crank sensor bracket problem

After finally getting round to swapping the standard crank sensor bracket with the modified (5'Advanced) one, strange things started to happpen.....

All was well until nudging past 3000rpm (70ish!!) she seemed to misfire, or hit a rev limiter! thoughts of secondary fuel pump failure came to mind, but relevent tests showed this to be working perfectly.

I have since but the original, standard bracket back on & hey presto everything seems fine!

With the uprated bracket, acceleration was noticably better (until 3000rpm that is) and was told that the car it was originally on had no problems.

there are no DTCs (using autologic). any help/ideas would be gratefully received!!!!

Strange that you have that problem, I and many others really enjoy the andy bracket with no problems whatsoever. I would have ran the car with the bracket installed and connected to a scanner in order to see what codes pop up when you have this problem. keep us informed, always interesting to hear how a problem is diagnosed and fixed...

Perhaps a PM or email to the vendor would be helpful. Andy would probably know what would cause that behaviour. Maybe some system on the engine is marginal and the added advance pushes against it. Something as simple as old plugs for example.

Default Update

so.. ive been ponering my issues today, (while pretending to work!!) all service items plugs, filters etc changed so no probs there.

Sounds stupid i know but i replaced my airfow meter a couple of months ago, & I was wandering today whether or not the one I bought (cheap) is good, or even right for an XJR!!

I assume 3.2 & 4.0 n/a airflows run at a lesser rate cos it aint 'forced induction'??

I know from experience that AFMs dont really show up on diagnostics
& maybe, as 'plums' suggested the bracket could be showing it up?

Cant find the original AFM so cant marry up the part numbers!?!

any ideas??

Air Flow meters from a NA xj6 vehicle will not work properly on a sc xjr vehicle..... even without the bracket you can really do some harm to your engine.
