I purchased my (First!) Jag about three weeks ago and have experienced a few (common?) issues and repairs to pass along.

Being a 10 year old car, none of these issues were particularly surprising. But being a Jag, I was mildly nervous.

• Check Engine (yellow) light appeared after my first fuel fill-up. The fuel cap seal was bad so a new cap was installed. Fixed!
• "Battery Not Charging" message along with battery and charge indicator lights. A new alternator did the trick. Fixed!
• The low beam headlamp went out on the passenger side so I popped in a new bulb (with glove of course). Fixed!

I'm sure there will be more to come, but so far so good. The performance didn't suffer, and fortunately I didn't experience any stalls or non-starts.

My car is running beautifully and I still absolutely LOVE it! Maintenance & repairs can be expensive, but my baby is absolutely worth it.

 

Welcome to the club Jack. Do you do your own work on the car ? I haven't had to replace an alternator on one of these, just wondering if it was tough and/or expensive. Cheers !

 

Diagnostics, parts, and labor for the alternator and fuel cap were nearly $800.00. I have a good, long-time local mechanic who does most of my repairs now.
