Requested more pics & the VIN , we shall see.

Iconoclast 05-13-2019 07:31 PM

Nice!

But, does it still have original (defective) secondary tensioners?
If it does, Probably will need to change that. $$$$

Yes, I'm sure it will need all of the usual age related "repairs", tensioners, drive-line bearing/couplings, deteriorated suspension bushings, motor mounts, etc, but with not too much expense you can have a virtually "new" classic/luxury car for very little money.

.

The ad has been removed from Craigslist, so I assume the car sold. If so it wasn't out there very long!

Carnival Kid 05-17-2019 11:27 AM

This one looks like a decent buy, 2002, 63,000 miles...............

That is one nice 2003 SWB XJ8!

I love the white X308s, and this one is a super-low-mileage, last-year model with all the "bugs" addressed, plus things like upgraded steering wheel, piped leather seats, etc on a "standard" car.

I did see the failed material on the passenger door pocket, a red marking on the overhead console, very minor rippling in the cup holder lid leather, and some suspicious "sagging" of the material on the sunroof (although this last item may be just camera optical illusion), but this is a wonderful, low mileage example in a wonderful exterior/interior combination. I doubt it will sell for less than $9,000, and will possibly go for several thousand more, but it will be a great buy for someone.

Most definitely! Nice color, right year, supercharged, nice mileage, California car (not sure how it suddenly ended up in Pennsylvania), and probably not over-priced.

I was looking to buy that car. I saw it come up on Manheim Nevada. I was sold on buying it, until I saw this rust. That car sold for $5,300 or $5,700. I forget how much. Here is the rust and online auction pics of the car. The dealer claims they have fixed the rust. Not trying to knock them, just thought it'd be best for the buyer to know. Ok, phone isn't wanting upload pics. But I'll get them up.

Wow, will be interested to see the pictures............according to the CarFax the car was in California for 99% of its life, so curious how it has rust.

That is definitely an eye-opener..................definitely not a $16K+ car!

Those areas of rust do not show up in the eBay pics, are we sure it is the same vehicle?

You can see it in the ebay ad. In the engine pics. Hell, I'm on my phone and I can see it. But yes, it is the car. I didn't screenshot the VIN number. Nor can you pull up a car that has already been sold at a dealer auction. Much less, one that happened 3 weeks ago. But hey, I have no reason to lie.

Carnival Kid 02-08-2020 06:08 AM

Yes, on closer inspection of the eBay pics, I do see the corrosion under the hood, they have made efforts to clean it up, but it is still there. And the condition of the owner's manual, and just one key and fob tells a story too.

Very strange for a California car to have such corrosion, especially as the rest of the car......door bottoms, rockers etc,..... look so clean, can only think it was parked near the ocean for much of its life.

The selling dealer will have his work cut out to get his asking price, but he has lots of leeway between the auction price and his selling price!
