2002 XJR will not start

I stopped at a gas station yesterday, to fill up my 5 gal container for the boat, with diesel. (don't worry, didn't put any in the Jag).

Got back in, and it wouldn't start. To be more precise, it would run very roughly for a second or two, then stall. Ended up having it towed from the gas station.

I checked the inertia switch, the fuel pump fuses, and swapped the fuel pump relays for two others. No improvement.

Any ideas? I only have limited access to tools where the car is.

Is the fuel rail pressurized (if not, fuel pump)? How old is the fuel filter?

Did you try to clear it out? Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it while you try to start it (it is flooded).

Are you able to pull the plugs and examine them?

This XJR has 2 fuel pumps. The primary is mainly used alone, except that the secondary is for heavy loads.

There is failsafe though in that if the car detects a faulty primary pump relay, it will switch to normal operation using the secondary fuel pump.

To do this, remove fuel pump relay 1 in the trunk fusebox (see diagram). Then attempt to restart about 6 times, after which the car should run again entirely on the secondary pump. If this works, it is also pretty good confirmation of a failure of fuel pump 1.

Thanks, I'll try that. It's parked at the marina about 40 miles away, and I won't be able to get there until Wednesday. Thankfully, it's 3 miles away from a good Jaguar mechanic.

I wasn't able to check the fuel pressure, but I could next time I'm there. I did try flooring the gas pedal, no luck. I could check the plugs next time I'm there too.
