ABS light, ASC and TRAC not available - fixed!

My ABS light was on and I had a ASC and TRAC not available message.

Checked for codes with Torque app - nothing.

Searched the forums and came up with a list of fixes.

I started by cleaning all the wheel speed sensors, took about an hour to R&R each wheel and clean the sensors. (Always remove the negative terminal from the battery before you do anything having to do with electrical components on your Jag.)

Put the negative terminal back on and no ABS light and no "ASC and TRAC not available" messages.

Took her for a drive and all seems OK, we'll see.......

Good to know. I'm getting more and more frequent ASC/TRAC not available messages (especially when starting from cold though)

ABS light on - ASC & TRAC warnings - C1095

For last 5 days - ABS light on as soon as key turned to position II after system check function. Code Scan shows C1095 (Indy Jaguar mechanic's Scanned all systems).

Scan indicated open circuit in ABS module.

Indy shop used my print out of the forums DIY to remove ABS module electrical component, open module cover and resoldered the 2 pins with cracked solder on them.

Remove the 2 fuses and bracket near ABS module to make more space to remove ABS module.

Released brake lines circular clips and slightly bend lines enough to remove the module component.

Used a small torx drive bit socket with rachet on 2 top bolts and small torx drive with a small pair of vise-grip pliers (on the torx drive bit socket) to remove 2 bottom bolts.

Used a Hacksaw with new blade, then utility knife to cut through top cover seal of ABS module electrical component.

Job took about 90 minutes, but probably 50 to 60 minutes was spent on removing top cover and resoldering the 2 pins and sealing top cover.

After repair, started car and took test drive with no abs light on and no more ASC & TRAC warning messages.

I notice from other postings this can be caused by low battery, hence the message on start-up. I get this message often and if I drive for a while and stop and re-start it usually goes away...but only once has this come back on whist driving, so I think the ABS wheel sensors may also be an issue. FYI my battery shows 12.5v, which is low, even though it cranks the engine fine, I have yet to put in a new battery and now summer is here I will do just this an report back.Next will be the ABS unit to check for broken pins.

Hello,
Does anybody have this problem? The red LED ASC on the"S" switch on the shifter console does not go out, when turned off. The ASC does not disengage and the battery looses voltage. over 3 days, the battery loses about a volt. It is as if a solenoid is constantly activated.

Any thoughts?

I cannot figure out how to disengage the ASC.

Thanks,
Bill

I had the same indicators a year ago. After cleaning the speed sensors, which got things back to normal for a short while, I eventually had to replace one of them which is what the OBD code said. My indy shop says Jag and BMW speeds sensor systems of this vintage are pretty primitive and will wear. I am getting the light again and ASC/Traction control unavailable again on some starts. But it does go away on its own so I am assuming it is a quirk or an early, early warning something is up. Haven't put the scanner on it yet.

Our '03 XJ8 has the ABS light on with the other 2 warnings. Does anyone have a picture of the sensor that people are trying to clean? Or should I have the car scanned to see what the exact problem is?

I doubt my ScanGauge will show these ABS codes?

Very nice. I think I'll try to clean the sensors and see how it goes.
