Hello,
i can start car the alternater charge light does not come on ,stop and start it again light is on ,with car running and light on it is still charging at 14.1 volts. Its a 1998 jaguar xjr v8....

Has any one had this problem or has any suggestions?

Couple thoughts:

I would get the battery load tested.

There is another thread running at the moment discussing strange electrical issues that turned out to be resistance at one of the many connections between the alternator and battery.
